The pragmatic task of capturing a representative example of a particular plant is not always as obvious as it might first seem.  One has to find a suitable subject free from overwhelming neighbours for a start but also one with a good constitution and humour.

I have been accused of grooming my plants by tidying them up of old leaves, spent blooms and extraneous objects in the periphery before shooting, but at least I don’t attach extra flowers to the stalks What I shoot, I find as is, created and put in place by nature.  I might bend a stem a little but I never put a bunch of sticks in a pot!
